Best Menthol E-liquid of 2017 | ZAMPLEBOX E-liquid Awards

Mar 11, 2024Updated Sep 17, 20263 min readAwards

Some vapers want a cool, refreshing hit whether it’s a hot summer afternoon or the middle of a snowstorm. If that sounds like you, the Best Menthol E-Liquid of 2017 is worth knowing: Beta by Alternative.

ZampleBox members voted it the top menthol of the year. Here’s what it tastes like, why it stood out, and how to find a similar cool fruit vape today.

Short version: Beta by Alternative won Best Menthol E-Liquid of 2017 with a blend of green apple, peach candy and a light menthol finish. It was also one of the first nicotine salt e-liquids to appear in ZampleBox. Alternative is not sold on our site today.

The winner: Beta by Alternative

Beta blends crisp green apple with sweet peach candy, then finishes with a light touch of menthol. We called it a beautiful blend at the time. The fruit comes first, and the menthol arrives as a light, cool finish rather than a blast.

That makes this style a good fit if full-strength menthol is too much for you but you still want some chill.

Why members loved it: nicotine salts

Beta was especially popular with our members for another reason. It was one of the first products in ZampleBox made with nicotine salts.

Nicotine salts, or nic salts, use a different form of nicotine than the freebase nicotine in most traditional vape juice. They are usually sold at higher strengths and used in low-wattage pod devices. Our guide to what nicotine salts are explains the difference, and this nicotine strength guide helps you choose a level. Whatever form it comes in, nicotine is addictive.

If nic salts are your thing, the Zamplebox Club‘s Salt Nic Box ships four 30 ml bottles of nic salt e-liquid a month for pod systems and other low-power devices.

There is also a video on nicotine salts on YouTube.

Finding a cool fruit vape today

Alternative is not a brand we carry now, so use Beta as a flavor guide. Our menthol collection runs from gentle cool finishes to full icy blends, including icy fruit.

  • Start with menthol or icy flavors if you want the chill first.
  • Browse green apple or peach if the fruit matters most, then look for a cool finish.
  • Try mint or cool mint if you want a cool flavor without the fruit.

Flavor rules, including rules on menthol, vary by state and city and change often, so check what applies where you live.
