Fuchai 213 Plus Review

Fuchai 213 Plus Review

Sigelei’s 213 line was one of the most successful product lines in vaping, and the Fuchai 213 Plus was another great entry. Ian and Chris kicked back with a vape to see how the newer model compared with the ever-popular original Fuchai 213.

This is an older review, and Sigelei mods are not sold on our site, so read it as a look back at a standout regulated mod and what made it good.

Short version: Ian and Chris both gave the Fuchai 213 Plus an A. It kept the 213’s preheat feature and added 10 more watts, a color screen, sturdier buttons and improved temperature control.

What the 213 Plus improved

Sigelei had already set a very high bar with its 213 line of regulated mods. The 213 Plus held that standard and pushed it further, with better build quality and an upgraded electronics suite.

  • More power: an extra 10 watts over the original 213.
  • A color LCD screen in place of the original’s display.
  • Better buttons: sturdier and more responsive, and so clicky and good.
  • Improved temperature control to go with the power upgrade.
  • Preheat, kept: the 213’s excellent wattage-boost preheat feature carried over.

Preheat and temperature control, explained

Preheat gives your coil a short burst of extra power at the start of each fire, then drops back to your set wattage. That helps heavier-gauge wire and large, elaborate coils heat up quickly, so you are not waiting for the vapor to catch up.

Temperature control (TC) works differently. With compatible wire such as nickel, titanium or stainless steel, the mod tracks the coil’s resistance as it heats and caps the temperature, which can help you avoid dry, burnt-tasting hits when the wick runs low. Kanthal coils run in regular wattage mode instead.

If you are new to these settings, our guides to ohms and sub-ohm vaping and dry hits cover the basics.

The scores

  • Ian’s score: A
  • Chris’s score: A

With those upgrades, the 213 Plus jumped to the top of the heap for both of them. Our verdict at the time: truly one of the best mods in its price range.

How it stacked up

The original 213 was already a favorite of ours. In our IPV8 review, its sturdier build and preheat won out over a rival that both hosts scored a B+. For the full story on the first model, read our Fuchai 213 review.

Battery basics for dual-battery mods

Box mods in this power class typically run on two 18650 batteries. If you still use one, treat the batteries with care:

  • Use a matched pair from a reputable source, and replace them together.
  • Retire or rewrap any cell with a torn or damaged wrap.
  • Never carry loose batteries in a pocket with keys or coins.
  • Charge them with a proper charger, and never leave them charging unattended.
