Sigelei Kaos Spectrum 230W TC Review

Tired of staring at the same plain stainless steel mod every morning? The Sigelei Kaos Spectrum 230W TC was built for vapers who want their device to stand out. When Chris and Ian reviewed it, it was one of the hottest devices on the market.
The Spectrum could light up the night, but was that enough for them to recommend this dual-battery mod to just anyone? Here’s what the mod offered, what to weigh before buying a high-wattage mod like it, and where to find the full review.
Short version: A 230-watt, dual-battery temperature control mod with built-in lighting. Chris and Ian gave their verdict in the video review. We don’t carry the Kaos Spectrum today, but the buying advice below applies to any big box mod.
The Sigelei Kaos Spectrum at a glance
- Power: up to 230 watts
- Batteries: two cells
- Modes: temperature control (TC) as well as wattage
- Style: built-in lighting designed to stand out
Vaping doesn’t have to be a bland affair, and that was the Spectrum’s whole pitch. Sigelei is known for powerful box mods, including the one we covered in our Fuchai 213 device review.
Before you buy a high-wattage mod
You probably won’t use all 230 watts
Most tanks and coils run well below the top of a mod like this. Extra headroom helps with low-resistance rebuildable builds, but check the wattage range printed on your coil, or learn how your build behaves, before you turn things up. Our guide to ohms and sub-ohm vaping explains how resistance and power work together.
Dual batteries need a matched pair
In a two-battery mod, use two cells of the same brand and model, bought and charged together, and keep them together as a set. Mixing old and new cells makes one work harder than the other. Check the wraps for tears before every install, and charge your cells in a dedicated charger. See recommended batteries for vaping and our battery charger guide.
Temperature control needs the right wire
TC mode works with coils made from wire such as nickel, titanium or stainless steel, because the mod reads how their resistance changes with heat. Standard kanthal won’t work. Our introduction to vape wire covers the options.
Lights are fun, but check the settings
Lighting uses a little battery power. Many lit mods let you dim or switch off the lights when you want longer runtime, so check the manual for your device.
The verdict
So, did the Spectrum’s looks earn a recommendation for everyone? Chris and Ian gave their full take in the video review.
