Cali Steam – Best Cereal Vape – E-Liquid Awards 2016
Crazy Toucan from Cali Steam won Best Cereal Vape in the 2016 ZampleBox E-Liquid Awards. Cereal flavors are a fan favorite and a tough style to get right, and this bottle got it right.
Cali Steam is not sold on our site today, so this post is the record of the win. Our tasting notes are still a useful guide if you love cereal and creamy flavors.
Short version: Cali Steam’s obsession with quality earned Crazy Toucan the title of Best Cereal Vape of 2016, with a milky inhale and a burst of fruity cereal on the exhale.
Why Cali Steam won
Cali Steam was 100 percent about perfection. Each flavor was a labor of love to tweak and design, and the brand said every ingredient was heavily vetted for quality. The team meant business, and that dedication showed in every drop.
We saw it up close when we reviewed the brand’s full lineup. The six flavors earned 4.8 out of 5 stars from us, with Pearadise as our favorite. You can read every note in our full-line Cali Steam review.
What Crazy Toucan tastes like
Crazy Toucan nails the classic fruity cereal flavor. The inhale is milky, with that sweet taste of the milk left in the bowl, and the exhale is a blast of fruity cereal. When we reviewed it, we finished the bottle in no time.
Its flavor tags tell the story: cereal, fruit, fruity cereal, milk and dessert. That puts it in the sweet, creamy corner of the flavor map, with a fruity twist.
What makes a great cereal vape
A cereal vape lives or dies on two things: the cereal itself and the milk around it. The best ones share a few traits:
- A recognizable cereal. Fruity rings, cinnamon squares and frosted corn flakes each have a character you can pick out.
- The right milk. A good milk note is creamy and a little sweet without turning heavy.
- Balance. Too much sugar makes a cereal vape tiring, and sweeter juices can gunk up coils faster. Our guide on when to change your vape coils explains the signs.
For cereal-style flavors in our shop, start with the dessert and cream collections. Fans of the fruity side should also explore our fruit and berry flavors.
More award winners
Crazy Toucan wasn’t the only cereal-inspired winner that year. Kilo’s Cereal Milk took Best Milk Vape of 2016, and our roundup of all the 2016 winners has the rest. To see who took the cereal category the following year, read Best Cereal E-Liquid of 2017.
Want cereal and dessert flavors picked for you? The Zamplebox Club lets you rate flavor notes like cream and custard, then curates a monthly box of vape juice around them. Every pick comes with a short reason, and you can swap any bottle before it ships.
