Best Cereal E-liquid of 2017 | ZAMPLEBOX E-liquid Awards

Mar 11, 2024Updated Sep 17, 20263 min readAwards

The first winner we announced in the 2017 ZampleBox E-Liquid Awards was Best Cereal Vape, and we started things off with a bang. For the second year in a row, the award went to Toucan by Cali Steam.

That made Toucan, formerly known as Crazy Toucan, the first two-time winner in the history of our E-Liquid Awards.

Short version: Cali Steam’s Toucan, a fruity cereal and milk flavor, won Best Cereal Vape in 2016 and again in 2017, making it our first repeat winner. Cali Steam is not sold in our shop today, but dessert flavors in a similar spirit are.

Why cereal vapes stay popular

Cereal flavors have been among the most popular and well-loved e-liquid categories for years. They hit a sweet spot between breakfast and dessert: toasted grain, a sugary coating and the creamy milk left at the bottom of the bowl.

The best ones balance all three parts. Too much milk and the cereal disappears. Too much sugar and the blend turns into candy. Winning two years running says Toucan got that balance right.

About the winner

Toucan is a fruity cereal flavor with milk. In our full Cali Steam review, we found it nails the fruity cereal taste, with a milky inhale and a burst of fruity cereal on the exhale.

It first won this category in our 2016 E-Liquid Awards, under its earlier name, Crazy Toucan. If you tried Crazy Toucan back then, Toucan is the same award-winning flavor under a new name. You can also look back at all of our 2016 winners.

Cali Steam, a brand that said it tweaked every flavor until it was right, is not sold in our shop today. Treat this award as a record of the 2017 results and a guide to the style.

Finding a cereal flavor you like

  • Start in the dessert family. Cereal vapes sit alongside other dessert flavors, often with cream or milkshake notes.
  • Pick your cereal style. Fruity, cinnamon and plain toasted cereals taste very different, so decide which one you are after.
  • Give it time. Creamy blends often round out after a short steep.
  • Mind your coil. Sweet dessert juices can wear coils faster. See when to change your vape coils.
  • Check the PG/VG ratio. Dessert juices come in a range of blends, so pick one that suits your device. What are PG and VG? covers the basics.

In the Zamplebox Club, you rate the flavor notes you love, and every pick comes with a short reason, so you can see why each bottle landed in your box.
