Crazy Guys Vape Dry Hits in Slow Motion
We’re all about adventure at ZampleBox, and about doing things in the most fun way possible. So when someone suggested filming dry hits in slow motion, five brave souls, Chris, Max, Jared, James and Brady, stepped up to the challenge. #RIPGUYS
Short version: Please don’t try this at home. A dry hit tastes awful, and it can ruin a coil.
The slow-motion replays
Each of the guys took a dry hit on camera, and we slowed the footage way down so you could savor every second of regret:
- Brady kicked off the replays.
- James looked like he regretted everything.
- Chris was really, really feeling the burn.
- Max left us asking, oh no, not Max.
- Jared came last but not least. Poor, poor Jared.
What is a dry hit?
A dry hit happens when you fire your coil and the wick doesn’t have enough e-liquid on it. Instead of turning juice into vapor, the coil scorches the cotton, and you get a harsh, burnt taste you won’t forget. Our explainer on what a dry hit is goes deeper.
How to avoid one
- Prime new coils. Drip a few drops onto the exposed cotton, fill the tank and wait a few minutes before your first puff.
- Keep your tank topped up. Don’t let the juice level drop below the wicking holes.
- Slow down. Chain vaping can outpace your wick, so give it a few seconds between puffs.
- Stay in range. Keep your wattage within the range printed on the coil.
- Know when a coil is done. See when to change your vape coils and why your vape tastes burnt.

Where things stand now
