Aspire Cleito EXO Sub Tank Device Review

Aspire Cleito Exo Sub Tank Device Review

Aspire’s original Cleito sub-ohm tank earned a loyal following for being easy to use and for delivering strong flavor and big clouds. So when Aspire released the next version, the Cleito EXO, Chris and Ian put it through a device review.

The big question: was the EXO a worthy upgrade, or just a skeleton of its former self? Here’s the background on the Cleito, what to look for in any sub-ohm tank, and where to find the full review.

Short version: The Cleito EXO is Aspire’s follow-up to its popular Cleito sub-ohm tank. Chris and Ian tested whether it could become your new favorite, and their verdict is in the video. We don’t carry Aspire tanks today, but the checklist below works for any sub-ohm tank.

Why the original Cleito was a hit

The first Cleito won fans for four reasons: it was accessible, easy to use, full of flavor and good for cloud production. Its best-known design idea was a coil head that also served as the tank’s chimney.

Aspire is one of the best-known tank makers in vaping, so expectations for a follow-up were high.

The Cleito EXO: upgrade or skeleton?

The EXO was the newest version of the Cleito when we reviewed it, and the name invited the obvious joke. Chris and Ian set out to see whether it kept what made the original great, and whether it had the potential to be your new favorite sub-ohm tank.

Their full take is in the video review.

What to look for in any sub-ohm tank

Sub-ohm tanks use coils rated below 1 ohm and run at higher wattage than most starter devices, for bigger clouds and a direct-to-lung draw. If that’s new to you, start with what sub-ohm vaping is. When you compare tanks, weigh:

  • Flavor. The original Cleito set a high bar here, and it’s the first thing worth judging any tank on.
  • Airflow. Adjustable airflow lets you tune the draw from tight to wide open.
  • Filling. A top-fill design is usually quicker and less messy than taking the tank apart.
  • Coil availability. A great tank is only useful if you can keep buying its coils.
  • Leak resistance. Check that the O-rings are seated properly, and don’t overtighten the parts.

Getting the most from a sub-ohm tank

  • Prime every new coil by letting juice soak the wick before you vape, so you don’t get a dry hit.
  • Start at the low end of the coil’s recommended wattage range and work up.
  • Clean the tank when you change flavors. Our guide to cleaning your tank walks you through it.
  • Swap coils when the flavor fades or turns burnt. See when to change your vape coils.

Sub-ohm tanks pair best with higher-VG vape juice, which is thicker and produces more vapor. What Are PG and VG? explains the difference, and our nicotine strength guide covers why sub-ohm vapers usually choose lower strengths.
