Tesla Nano Steampunk 100W TC Box Mod Review

When Did Vaping Start? | ZampleBox Vape School

Steampunk style meets temperature control in this one. Our good friend VapingwithTwisted420, an exceptional YouTube reviewer, gave us his thoughts on the steampunk edition of Tesla’s Nano, a temperature-controlled box mod.

It is a beautiful rendition of the device and a genuinely unique mod, and his full thoughts are in the video.

Short version: A good-looking, unique take on Tesla’s Nano temperature-control mod, reviewed on video by VapingwithTwisted420. This is an archived review, and the mod is not sold in our shop.

A mod that looks the part

Steampunk borrows from Victorian-era machinery: brass tones, gears, rivets and ornate metalwork. Tesla’s steampunk rendition brings that look to the Nano, turning a practical box mod into something you will want to leave out on the table.

Looks are personal, but if you like your gear to stand out, this is the style to look for.

What temperature control does

The Nano is a temperature-controlled (TC) device. In TC mode, the mod reads how your coil’s resistance changes as it heats up and adjusts power to hold the temperature you set.

  • It needs the right wire. TC mode works with coil wire such as nickel (Ni200), titanium or stainless steel, depending on what the mod supports. Standard kanthal is meant for wattage mode.
  • Set it up with a cold coil. Let the mod read a new coil’s resistance at room temperature, before you fire it.
  • It can help with dry hits. When the wick runs low, the coil heats up fast. A TC mod senses that jump and limits power, which can help you avoid that harsh, burnt taste.
  • Start low and work up. Begin near the lower end of the temperature range, then raise it a little at a time until the vapor is as warm as you like.

If you are new to this, what is a dry hit and what are ohms and sub-ohm vaping are good next reads.

What Tesla was known for

Tesla was known for a no-nonsense approach to vape hardware, and the steampunk Nano pairs that with a bold design. For another Tesla device, see our Tesla Invader 2/3 review, where Ian and Chris put a two-or-three battery Tesla mod through its paces.

If you still vape on an older TC mod

This review is from our archive, and the Nano is not sold in our shop. If you still use an older temperature-control mod, check the 510 connection, buttons and screen now and then, keep the contacts clean, and if it takes removable batteries, use fresh, quality cells.

Our guide to recommended batteries for vaping is a good starting point, and when to change your vape coils covers the other half of the setup.

Whatever you vape on, the Zamplebox Club can keep the juice coming with a monthly box built around your flavor profile.
