Joey Salads Talking About Vaping
Years ago we shared a video of YouTube personality Joey Salads talking about vaping. It was a sign of how far vaping had traveled: no longer just a topic for gear reviewers, it had become something creators outside the vaping world talked about with audiences of their own.

Here’s a look at that shift, how to watch creator videos about vaping with a critical eye, and what has changed since.
When vaping went mainstream on YouTube
In vaping’s boom years, YouTube filled up with reviews, unboxings and cloud-chasing clips made by vapers for vapers. As vaping grew, creators from other corners of the platform started sharing their own opinions and experiences too.
That brought more voices into the conversation, and more opinions to sort through.
How to watch a creator video about vaping
- Treat it as one person’s take. A creator talking about vaping is sharing an opinion, not professional advice, and what works for them may not suit you.
- Check the date. Devices, flavors and laws change quickly, so an older video may describe products or rules that no longer apply.
- Verify health claims. Look for current guidance at fda.gov and cdc.gov, and bring health questions to your doctor.
- Learn the basics yourself. Nicotine strength and PG/VG ratio shape your experience more than any hype. Our guides to nicotine strength and PG and VG explain both in plain English.
Where things stand now
A lot has changed since this video was posted. The federal minimum age for all tobacco and vaping products has been 21 since December 2019, every vaping product needs FDA premarket authorization, and flavor rules vary by state and city and change often. If you’re an adult who vapes, check the current rules where you live, and take any claim you hear in a video back to official sources.
WARNING: This product contains nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive chemical. For adults 21+ only.
