Featured #WhyIVape Story: Zach McLain

#WhyIVape was our video series in which adult vapers told their own stories in their own words. One of the featured stories came from Zach McLain, owner and founder of Future Vapor.

Zach’s story
Zach told us he quit smoking in 2012. His message to viewers was short and direct:
“If I can do this, you can do this.”
It was a personal story, told the way he wanted to tell it, and it is kept here as part of the series. When we shared it, we asked viewers the question at the heart of the whole series: why do you vape?
What a personal story can and can’t tell you
Stories like Zach’s are powerful, but every adult’s experience is different, and one story is not medical advice. A few facts belong next to any story like this:
- Nicotine is addictive.
- No vaping product is FDA-approved as a quit-smoking aid.
- Public-health bodies disagree on many of the details.
- If you smoke and are considering switching, talk to your doctor first.
For current guidance, see fda.gov and cdc.gov.

The series invited vapers to share their own #WhyIVape stories for a chance to be featured in a future film. For more stories from our community, read Why I Vape – Real Stories from Our Family.
Where things stand now
The call for #WhyIVape submissions has closed, and the rules around vaping have changed a lot since 2012. The federal minimum age for tobacco and vaping products is now 21, and every vaping product needs FDA premarket authorization. If you don’t already use nicotine, vaping isn’t a habit to start. If you smoke and are weighing a change, talk it through with your doctor.
WARNING: This product contains nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive chemical. For adults 21+ only.
