Congress Is Banning Vape Mail… Take Action Now!
This post first ran while a Senate bill, S. 1253, was moving through Congress. The bill aimed to stop vaping products from being shipped to consumers through the US Postal Service, and we asked our community to push back.
Short version: The campaign is over. The mail restrictions became law, and since 2021 the PACT Act has covered vaping products. The call to action below is kept as history.
What we asked for
The week before this post went up, our vape community sent more than 3,000 messages to Congress urging lawmakers to reject a ban on vape mail shipped through USPS. Even so, S. 1253 was getting closer to moving forward by the day.
We called for a sustained and vocal response. Our argument was that many adults relied on getting vapor products by mail and shouldn’t have to pay unnecessary extra costs to get them. The post linked to an advocacy campaign run by CASAA, the Consumer Advocates for Smoke-free Alternatives Association, where readers could urge their senators to reject the bill. That campaign closed long ago.
How it turned out
The pushback didn’t stop the measure. At the end of 2020, it was folded into a larger federal spending package and became law, extending the PACT Act, the federal law that already governed mailing cigarettes, to vaping products.
Since 2021, USPS does not ship vapes to consumers, and carriers require an adult signature at delivery. For the rules that shaped the market around the same time, read about the 2020 pod flavor policy.
Where things stand now
We ship from Vista, California, to US addresses under those rules. Orders are for adults 21 and over, with age verification at checkout, and carriers require an adult signature when your package arrives.
