An E-Juice Showdown

E-Liquid and Beer Flavor Pairings

Mar 11, 2024Updated Oct 23, 20263 min readReviews

Brothers and sisters are the best. Well, sometimes. To celebrate a little sibling rivalry, we staged an e-juice showdown: brother versus brother.

Two of our team at the time, General Manager Ian and Creative Director James, are brothers. With a little egging on from Chris, each brother picked his favorite apple and dessert flavors, and Chris decided which picks were best.

Short version: Ian and James went head to head with their favorite apple and dessert e-juices, Chris judged, and the winning sibling was revealed on video. Below are the seven bottles in the showdown and tips for running your own.

The contenders

These seven bottles made the showdown, listed as they appeared in our store at the time:

  • 28 Days Vape SS Jacks
  • Seduce Juice Snake Oil
  • OneUp Vapor Churros and Ice Cream
  • Southern Vapez Creole Custard
  • Sabor Vapors Prickly Pear
  • Stellar Space Pudding
  • Coil Vapes Nectarcus

Three of the names point clearly to the dessert round: Churros and Ice Cream, Creole Custard and Space Pudding. Apart from Prickly Pear, the other labels don’t give much away, so the video is the place to see which bottles were the apple picks and who came out on top.

OneUp Vapor also got a full write-up from us, so read our OneUp Vapor review for notes on its lineup. None of these seven brands is sold on our site today, so treat the list as a snapshot of the time.

How the showdown worked

The format was simple, and that’s what made it fun:

  1. Each brother chose his favorite apple flavor and his favorite dessert flavor.
  2. Chris tasted the picks head to head.
  3. Chris named the best, and the sibling with bragging rights was decided on camera.

Run your own e-juice showdown

A showdown is a great way to settle a flavor debate with friends (adults 21+ only) or to find your own favorite in a crowded flavor family. A few rules keep it fair:

  • Pick a theme. Apple against apple, or custard against custard, makes for a clearer contest than apples against pudding.
  • Use the same setup. Same device, same wattage, same nicotine strength. Otherwise you’re judging the hardware, not the juice.
  • Keep flavors apart. Use a fresh coil or a separate tank for each juice, since leftover flavor can linger. Our guide on how to clean your tank helps between rounds.
  • Go blind. Cover the labels so the judge can’t be swayed by a name or a pretty bottle.
  • Score the inhale and the exhale. Many flavors change between the two, so note both.
  • Take breaks. Sip water between rounds so your palate doesn’t get tired.

When you find a winner, write it up. Our tips on leaving a great e-juice review will help you describe what you taste.

Prefer a steady supply of new contenders? The Zamplebox Club curates a monthly box of vape juice around your flavor profile, and you can swap any bottle before it ships.
